This spring and summer we had the honor of planting a garden with our friends who live next door.  We built the raised beds out of untreated wood and filled them with topsoil.  We planted way too many tomato plants (Better Boys and German Johnsons), and didn’t know how to prune them, so they went crazy.  We also planted okra, lettuce, peppers, and cherry tomatoes.  The cabbage got eaten by some bugs.

The summer rain was initially less than expected, and the plants didn’t produce like we would have liked, but we learned a ton.  We are ready for next year.  Perhaps we’ll really be able to call it a farm next summer.
